Continuent Joins Forces with Logicworks to Form Vendor Partnership

Partnership Enables Logicworks to Provide Enterprise-Level MySQL Solution

EMERYVILLE, Calif. – December 12, 2005 – Continuent, the leading provider of commercial open source middleware solutions for database high availability, today announced its partnership with Logicworks, a leading provider of complex managed dedicated server hosting solutions.  Continuent will work with Logicworks to further enhance the scalability and availability of MySQL® applications employed by joint customers.  Under the terms of the partnership, Logicworks will also become an official reseller of Continuent products.

Logicworks provides enterprise managed hosting solutions to small-to-medium businesses and enterprises.  Continuent™ m/cluster (for MySQL) provides Logicworks customers with transparent failover and disaster recovering services for all data and automatic continuity at the transaction level.  Business continuity is assured through online maintenance, with no downtime, service interruptions or database outages.

“Continuent m/cluster enables us to cost-effectively deliver high availability without a single-point-of-failure, and the performance and high throughput required to meet the most demanding enterprise applications,” said Gregg Kitaeff, Vice President of Sales, Logicworks.  “As part of its managed service, Logicworks takes full responsibility for the hardware and operating systems, and offers additional support through its ‘Managed Database Hosting’ service, which includes cluster creation and maintenance.  Customers who require high-availability database and application hosting can have full confidence that Linux operating systems, with databases running atop, will deliver on their full promise of performance, availability and dependability.”

Continuent delivers high availability and scalability through an open-source based database virtualization technology.  Continuent abstracts databases – whether commercial or open source – presenting it as a virtualized database to an application.  This database virtualization technology is the key to enabling Continuent to support any type of environment, whether homogenous or heterogeneous.  The result is seamless failover capabilities with vertical and horizontal scalability and load balancing that are completely transparent to the application layer.

“Logicworks is an enterprise-class hosting service and we’re proud to partner with them to deliver on the promise of enterprise-level availability and performance on commodity hardware,” said Eero Teerikorpi, CEO of Continuent.  “Together, Continuent and Logicworks are working to ensure a complete and robust solution for our customers.”
