Core Shared Features

Tungsten is the only MySQL clustering software that works out-of-the-box, providing all core components in a single package. These components are designed to work together, seamlessly managing replication and cluster orchestration.

Tungsten Manager
Manages cluster state and performs health checks.
Tungsten Replicator
Real-time, high-performance replication for data consistency.
Tungsten Connector
Intelligent MySQL proxy for failover and load balancing.
Tungsten Dashboard
Web-based interface for monitoring and managing clusters.
Tungsten Clusters
Offered as 3-node or as 2 nodes + Witness.

Our tungsten solutions are cross-platform compatible, offering automated failover and seamless operation across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid-cloud environments while ensuring data integrity.

Cluster Configurations for Every Need

Find the perfect cluster for your needs — scalable performance or cost-effective reliability.

3-Node

Configuration
3-nodes per cluster
Best For

High-demand environments that require maximum resilience, scalability, and performance.

Benefits
  • Seamless scalability
  • High performance
  • Continuous uptime (even during maintenance or outages)

2-Node +

Configuration
2-nodes + Witness per cluster
Best For

Smaller environments that need high availability at a lower cost.

Benefits
  • Simple + Lightweight
  • Saves 33% on software cost
  • Lowers expenses on licensing, hardware, power, and maintenance

STA Tungsten Standalone High Availability Cluster

With Tungsten Standalone High Availability Cluster (Tungsten STA) all writes are routed by the Connectors to the active Primary MySQL or MariaDB node in a single cluster, with passive Replicas available for the load-balanced read traffic and for the failover to ensure continuous availability.

Key Benefits

Simplified Management
Easy to set up and maintain
High Availability
Automated failover ensures continuous local service
Low Latency
Optimized for single-region, high-speed data access
Infrastructure Friendly
Requires minimal changes to existing systems

Who Is It For?

This topology is ideal for organizations that need high availability for single-region/site applications.
SaaS Providers Using Pod Architecture
Scale capacity by adding clusters
Businesses without Disaster Recovery or Multi-region requirements
High availability without multi-region complexity

CAP Tungsten Composite Active/Passive Cluster

With Tungsten Composite Active/Passive Cluster (Tungsten CAP), clustering spans sites, regions, or both, while replication flows in one direction between sites/regions. A single writeable primary node handles all of the database writes, while passive disaster recovery clusters provide failover support.

Key Benefits

Data Protection
Passive node ensures a consistent backup for disaster recovery
Simple Setup
Easy to configure and maintain with minimal complexity
Cost-Effective Backup
Passive site remains idle, reducing operational costs
Reliable Failover
A single primary writable node simplifies failover

Who Is It For?

This topology is ideal for organizations that prioritize disaster recovery and data consistency, where zero-latency or zero-downtime is not required.
Businesses with Multi-Region Deployments
Passive nodes in secondary regions support disaster recovery
Businesses with Flexible Recovery Time Objective
Manual failover takes some time but supports intentional

CAA Tungsten Composite Active/Active Cluster

With Tungsten Composite Active/Active Cluster (Tungsten CAA) each cluster has its own writeable primary node, with all writes directed to the local primary through the Tungsten Connectors. These multi-site aware Connectors seamlessly redirect traffic to other clusters during a local outage, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

Key Benefits

Cluster-Level High-Availability
All writes are directed to the local primary node for uninterrupted service
Real-Time Replication
Sites synchronize writes across regions
Automatic Site-Level Failover
Requests are routed to healthy nodes when the current cluster is unavailable
Configurable Load Balancing
Read traffic can optionally be distributed across local replicas, improving read performance

Who Is It For?

This topology is best for businesses with geographically distributed operations that demand real-time data replication, and site-level high-availability.
Businesses with Multi-Region Deployments
Active nodes in all regions ensure real-time replication
Businesses Requiring Rapid Disaster Recovery
Automatic site-level failover avoids service disruptions, ensuring reliable data recovery and minimal downtime

DAA Tungsten Dynamic Active/Active Cluster

The Tungsten Dynamic Active/Active Cluster (Tungsten DAA) combines the simplicity of Composite Active/Passive (CAP) with the automation of Composite Active/Active (CAA). Using the Tungsten Connector, writes are directed to a single primary node while reads can be routed to local replicas, avoiding conflicts common in traditional Active/Active setups. With a simple Connector setting change, the cluster can switch between sending all writes to a single primary or sending writing to the local primary.

Key Benefits

High Availability with Conflict Reduction
Intelligent routing minimizes write conflicts
Automatic Site-Level Failover
Automatically route traffic to a healthy cluster to recover from failure
Improved Load Balancing
Clusters distribute read traffic for better resource utilization, while centralized writes ensure consistency and eliminate conflicts

Who Is It For?

This topology is ideal for organizations that need rapid disaster recovery and write conflict avoidance.
Businesses with Multi-Region Deployments
Dynamically adjust to regional demands and failures
Businesses Requiring Rapid Disaster Recovery
Near Instant disaster recovery with flexible failover options. DAA offers a more reliable recovery process than CAA or CAP with fewer risks of data inconsistencies
